‘Install Your Own Drip Irrigation System’ class June 13
NEWPORT - The WSU Master Gardeners are offering a class on “Install Your Own Drip Irrigation System,” Thursday, June 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This class will be taught by Master Gardeners Dixie Chichester and Kamori Cattadoris. They will discuss the benefits of drip irrigation, parts of a basic drip irrigation system, optional parts, required tools, yearly maintenance, and tips for success. A tour of the Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden will take place for participants to see first-hand how the drip irrigation system is set up in their garden.
Installing a drip water system for your own garden is an efficient way to create a healthier garden and is much more cost effective, using 20 to 50 percent less water than normal sprinkler systems. Drip irrigation goes straight into the ground and isn’t susceptible to water run-off, drift, or evaporation. The class fee is $5, ($3 for MGs), and can be paid by cash, check, money order, or through PayPal.
The class will be held at The Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, located northwest of the WSU/Pend Oreille County Extension Office at 227 S Garden Avenue in Newport. Participants are encouraged to bring a folding lawn chair. To register for this class contact Beverly Sarles, M-F, 8-4:30 p.m., at 509-447-2401 or email anytime at: [email protected].
