BRIEFLY Create concert, silent auction

NEWPORT - Pianist Sean Bostrom, who plays classical music, Broadway music as well as jazz, and who does a Victor Borge comedy skit with his brother, will perform at Create Arts Friday, June 14 at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $12 and at the door $15. Students are admitted for free. People can pick up advance tickets at Create Tuesday through Thursday 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or online anytime at www. createarts.org For more information call 509-447-9277. Create Arts Center, located at 900 W. 4th St. in Newport, will host a silent auction Sunday, June 23 at 1 p.m.

There will be live music by Ben Kardos, refreshments and a large variety of items to bid on including a 15-foot Coleman canoe, an antique quilt, a cord of red fir firewood, fine art paper collage, a new air fryer, gift baskets, a woman’s set of golf clubs, bag, and cart, as well as other items.

Master Gardeners ‘Drop-In Garden Clinic & Tour’ June 21

NEWPORT - The Garden Clinic and Tour at the WSU Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden and greenhouse will take place on Friday, June 21. People are invited to drop in anytime between 9 a.m. – noon and visit with local Master Gardeners about gardening in Pend Oreille County. There will be a brief demonstration, repeated on the hour. People will able to see wide variety of gardening techniques and what’s growing in the Demonstration Garden, which you may be able to duplicate in your own garden. Tours will start every 15 minutes. Most importantly, ask the Master Gardeners who are ready to answer all your gardening questions!

The Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden is located just northwest of the WSU/Pend Oreille County Extension Office at 227 S Garden Avenue in Newport.

Hinchliffs make Dean’s List

MOSCOW – Elise Hinchliff of Newport was named to the University of Idaho’s Dean’s List for spring semester. Hinchliff was in the College of Business and Economics. To be on the Dean’s List students have to complete 12 or more hours and have a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Kendall Hinchliff of Newport was named to the Grand Canyon University Dean’s List for the spring semester. She received a grand point average between a 3.5 and 3.79.

Priest River Library family history class June 22

PRIEST RIVER – Saturday, June 22, the Priest River Library will hold a free “Preserving and Archiving Your Family History” workshop, from 10 a.m. to noon. People are invited to join Dulce Kersting-Lark, head of Special Collections and Archives for the University of Idaho for a hands-on preservation workshop. Utilizing the Marylyn Cork Collection, Kersting-Lark will be demonstrating the best practices and methods for preserving your family’s history for generations. One on one consultations will be available after noon.
