Colville winners heading to Newport

COLVILLE – The Colville rodeo wrapped up Saturday, with five of the seven Colville champions scheduled to compete at Newport, including Caleb McMillan of Soap Lake, Washington. McMillan won the All Around cowboy award at Colville for placing in three events. He won third in the bull riding and tie down roping and fourth in the steer wrestling.

Colville winners competing at Newport include Dylan Riggins of Cheney, who tied for first in the bareback riding; Joey Bergivan of Ellensburg won the team roping; Hunter Haskins of Superior, Montana, won the saddle bronc riding; Zaine Mikita of Byers, Colorado, won the tie down roping and Linday Ham of Cheney won the barrel racing.

McMillan won $989 total in the events in which he placed. The biggest single check went to team ropers Jack Fisher and Bergivan, who pocketed $920 each for their 6.5 second run.
