SACHEEN LAKE – Tami and Dave Gunter, the musical duo known as Bridges Home, presents “Mid-Summer Serenade,” a variety of folk, country, blues, bluegrass and original music at the Circle Moon Theater July 12 and 13.
As dual lead singers and multi-instrumentalists, Bridges Home music has carried the Gunters to festivals and theater concerts around the Pacific Northwest and Midwest, and far-flung locales and diverse venues like Irish pubs, stately French gardens and remote Mayan villages.
The show will include a sampling of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, ukulele, cigar box guitar and accordion.
Tickets are $35 per person for dinner shows, or $14 for show only. Senior and children’s tickets are $12. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dining service begins at 6:30 p.m., and the curtain opens at 7:30 p.m.
The Circle Moon Theater is located on Highway 211, 3-1/2 miles north of Highway 2.
Pest management class July 11
NEWPORT – The WSU Master Gardeners are offering a class on Integrated Pest Management, Thursday, July 11, from 1-2:30 p.m. The class will be presented by Master Gardener Kamori Cattadoris. IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to manage pests in your garden. In IPM, pesticides are used only when needed and in combination with other approaches for more effective, long-term control. There are beneficial predators that prey upon harmful insects. For example, lady beetles that eat aphids. IPM control is a broad-based approach that integrates both chemical and non-chemical practices for control of pests. In this class people will learn how to control pests while minimizing or eliminating the use of chemical toxins.
This class will take place at the Extension Office located at 227 S. Garden Ave., in Newport. Avoiding scams workshop July 24
NEWPORT – A free workshop on how to avoid scams will take place Wednesday, July 24, at Newport Community Hospital at 714 W. Pine St. in Newport. The workshop will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon, with a free lunch.
People will get expert advice and learn how to protect themselves from telephone and banking scams during the workshop, which is put on in collaboration with Mountain West Bank. Seating is limited, so people are invited to call Newport Hospital & Health Services Foundation at 509-447-6286 to register.
