There are plenty of free fireworks and activities on Independence Day that the public is invited to in both Pend Oreille and west Bonner counties. Here is some 4th of July events come rain or shine.
Pend Oreille County Metaline, will hold Food, Friends and Fireworks scheduled at Metaline Waterfront Park with a community potluck dinner at 6 p.m and fireworks at dusk. Bring a dish to share and a chair.
A pancake breakfast and basket raffle fundraiser at Usk Community Hall begins at 8 a.m. ending at 11 a.m. Pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice for $7 are served 8 to 11 a.m. Children 5 and younger are admitted free.
On site ticket sales begin at 8 a.m. with the first drawing at 11:15 a.m. Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5. Raffle holders need not be present to win except for perishable items.

Also in Usk, the American Legion is sponsoring a community parade and car show at noon.
The Kalispel Tribe hosts a fireworks celebration on the reservation after dark on Friday, July 5. Watch the fireworks from whatever location you typically view them from in the Cusick area.
After the fireworks display, the action continues indoors at the casino with a promotion from 11 p.m. to midnight, with the chance to win $250 cash every 15 minutes. For more details, visit the Camas Club or check out kalispelcasino.com.
Before the fireworks display, the Kalispel Casino will bring families together for a free outdoor summer party with inflatable bounce castles and games. Starting at 5 p.m., food will also be available for purchase from local vendors.
The party will also feature live music from 7-9 p.m. from the Double Shot Band, local musicians from Newport and Priest River playing a variety of music new and old Diamond Lake hosts a boat parade at the boat launch at 2 p.m. followed by a fireworks extravaganza at 10 p.m.
West Bonner County
There will be plenty of fireworks at the boat launch and along the river at Bonner Park West in Priest River from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Laclede will hold a pancake breakfast at the Laclede Community Center on July 4 from 8-10 a.m. A plate costs $5 per adult with children under 12 eating free.
