Cutter Theatre offers tours

METALINE FALLS - The Cutter Theatre is offering guided tours of its building Saturdays, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, Aug. 17, and Aug. 31. The tours are offered between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Special tours can be scheduled through the Cutter Theatre office.

Self-guided tours are always available when the building is open for business: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Cutter Theatre is a treasured landmark in Metaline Falls, designed by renowned architect Kirkland Cutter as the Metaline Falls School. Classes started in 1912. When the building was shuttered, it might have been forgotten and left to disintegrate, but the North County Theatre, headed by Eva Gayle Six, and like-minded community members, saved the building, which is now known as the Cutter Theatre. The historical integrity of the building remains, while its purpose has expanded. While education continues in its programs, the theatre and its supporting facilities are joined by the Cutter Gallery on the upper level, the Metaline branch of the Pend Oreille Library, and several small businesses. There is always something going on at the Cutter. Check out the website at www. cuttertheatre.com, or contact the Cutter Theatre at 509.446.4108 or [email protected].
