NEWPORT – Dedra Taylor, a former local resident, will be back in Newport Friday, July 26, for a book reading and question and answer session at JB Boutique. Taylor, who writers under the pen name D.M. Tregaskis, is the author of The Lonely Mortician. Her second book, which will hit stands in September, will be available at the reading Friday.
The event, which will also feature refreshments, is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. JB Boutique is located at 317 S. Washington Ave., Newport.
No county commissioners meeting Monday
NEWPORT – Pend Oreille County commissioners will not meet Monday, July 29. They will meet Tuesday, July 30. It is the fifth week of the month and a light week for meetings and reports, so things were consolidated to Tuesday, board clerk Crystal Zieske said.
Films, live music at the Rex Theater Friday
PRIEST RIVER – People are invited to kick off Timber Days by coming out to the Rex Theater for films and live music on Friday, July 26, from 4-10 p.m.
“We’re featuring the Annual Nell Shipman Film and Music Festival and will be opening our doors to show off all that’s been done to complete Phase I of the historic restoration project,” said Anne Maxham, acting executive director for the Foundation for the Rex Theater. “Inside, we’ll be showing archival films of Priest River’s logging industry. Outside, rock to the music of Conor Yarbrough (4-6 p.m.) and Miah Kohal (7-10 p.m.) on Main Street. We’ll have beer and wine and other beverages. Last year’s successful Wine Tasting and Fundraiser will be happening as well. Join us & Support the Rex Theater!”
