NEWPORT – In anticipation of the 2024 Pend Oreille County Fair theme, “The Best in the West,” Pend Oreille County Democrats (POCD) are inviting all county residents to enter their second annual photography contest. The County Democrats are offering broad categories that fit the broad fair theme: events, family and friends, scenery and wildlife. A descriptive sentence or two indicating why the contestant thinks their photo depicts “The Best in the West” will be required.
A photo is eligible for submission so long as it was taken in Pend Oreille County between Aug. 1, 2023, and Aug. 1 2024. The photo will be entered digitally (jpg. and png.) along with a completed entry form by Aug. 1, 2024. Each contestant is limited to two photos.
Photos will be displayed at the POCD fair booth, and fair attendees will vote for their two favorites. First and second place winners will receive an Ace Hardware gift card for $50 and $30, respectively. The winning photos will be published in the Newport Miner, Selkirk Sun and the River Valley Beacon.
