To the editor, Talk about conspiracies and a “threat to democracy!” It was widely known even before Joe Biden was elected that his cognitive abilities were in decline. Vice President Kamala Harris, Congress, and the complicit mainstream media all colluded to meticulously keep his progressive chronic condition hidden by controlling video clips, quotes and minimizing his public appearances. It’s truly shocking when you contemplate the implications. Covering this up allowed the country to be run by an unaccountable, secret Democrat “Team” that from my perspective has steadily moved us closer to civil collapse and World War III. I’m sure it’s mere “coincidence” that these are goals of the global cabal of billionaires seeking world domination.
The 25th amendment was passed after the country experienced the reality of President Woodrow Wilson’s hidden decline. Why wasn’t this activated in light of Biden’s obvious long-term decline? In fact, why was Biden even pushed forward as the Democrats’ preferred candidate, if it wasn’t to be the figurehead that clandestine operations could hide behind?
I remember in 2020 when Obama reportedly asked Biden if he was sure he wanted to go through with his candidacy. I incorrectly assumed that Obama was concerned about his age and perhaps a desire to retire from public service. Biden accepted, presumably knowing that he could rely on “the Team” to take over operations! All he had to do was smile for the cameras and occasionally read ghost-written speeches from a teleprompter.
Quite the cushy job!
The media are scrambling to distance themselves from this massive deception — which was only made possible through their complicity — by pretending that Joe Biden’s dementia is somehow “new information.”
In my opinion, these conspirators are the true “threat to democracy” that they attempt to deflect away from themselves by endlessly shouting its Trump!
Trump! Trump!

Targeted people are always the bullies
To the editor, “Dork,” “loser,” “psychopath,” “nut job” were some of the words used to describe Thomas Crooks.
I’m certain words such as these are the art supplies being drawing the picture here.
The day of the shooting you have statements from peers stating this person was an outcast and most likely the target of “pretty,” “popular,” and “privileged” peers.
It’s possible this person was also a target of school staff and faculty who oftentimes facilitate peer bullying as this person has been labeled as “bad” or “weird.”
Odd to me that those who called to “tone down the rhetoric” we’re free to attack this person at will forgetting this person has a family and people who care about him, and I’m sure equally upset and devastated by the events. It’s difficult being the parent of a targeted child. Sometimes the parent becomes the target.
When people don’t want to listen and instead would rather discredit you, the alternative becomes action.
These shooters are told multiple times what “losers” they are. Violent action is taken; the shooter is run through the legal and media meat grinder being further labeled a “monster” of some sort.
Targeted people aren’t always the bullies.
You don’t have to be a delinquent to be targeted – just different. A student that challenges teachers is seen as “difficult” for not aligning their thoughts with those of their popular peers thus making the teachers so much easier. If the targeted individual takes a defensive position they’re seen as a “problem” or “a threat.”
It would be preferable to take a look at the whole picture rather than ask for a larger canvas to draw a bigger gun.
Once again this is nothing more than just a good ol’ fashioned people problem.

Stop the proposed mega-merger
To the editor, I work at the local Safeway store in Newport. Since October of 2022, when the CEOs of the two largest traditional grocery store chains (Kroger and Albertson who owns Safeway) in America announced they were planning to merge, a coalition has been shouting “Stop the Merger.” Thank goodness for the local unions (I am a member of UFCW 3000 myself), community organization and regulators who have been so organized and effective at raising their concerns and succeeding at getting our State Attorney and the Federal Trade Commission to file lawsuits to stop the proposed mega-merger.
This is a good example that we can fight these big companies and have an impact.
They can’t just do whatever they want, despite how they seem to act sometimes. They showed their true colors when they raised our prices more than they needed to for a comfortable profit. If we let them go through with their proposed mega-merger they’ll have us over a barrel. I join with most of the people I know who have spoken out on this bad idea and say “Stop the Merger.” Want to find our more or take action?
Go to www.NoGrocery-Merger.com. Thanks.

To the editor, As questions mount over the assignation attempt on Trump, there seems to be more questions than answers.
Secret Service (SS) Director Kimberly Cheatle could not answer basic questions regarding the attempt in front of a House Committee. She was asked how many shell casings were found on the roof. She couldn’t/ wouldn’t answer. She couldn’t answer why there was not protection on the roof, 150 yards from Trump.
The shooter (Crooks) landed on the SS radar several hours before, carrying a range finder.
Then they lost him.
Several minutes prior to the shooting, people saw him on the roof and pointed him out to law enforcement, who then radioed it in. Cheatle was asked why they didn’t pause the rally until the situation could be mitigated. Her response was they would have paused if there was a threat. She has since resigned her position as Director of the SS.
Some say Crooks flew a drone over the rally site several hours prior.
There is video that shows a drone flying over the site. There are so many holes in this “Protection Plan.” A highschooler could have planned it better.
There is also the theory of a second shooter. An audio analysis was done over the gunshot sounds. When I listened to it, I could hear three different sounds. Three shots followed by five and then another one of the SS sniper shooting Crooks.
So many questions, so few answers.
The Democrats desperately needed a change of narrative, so they forced Biden to drop out of the Presidential race due to his cognitive decline.
I thought this would happen sooner or later.
Now the Democrats have taken democracy off the table. They will choose the candidate rather than the voters. That’s what primaries are for. This is turning into a total circus.

Kids, take this time to enjoy being kids
To the editor, Over the last month or so something miraculous has been going on in this end of the county. Because of selfish people refusing to vote for the much needed levy, our activities programs (sports, drama, clubs, DECA and others) were without funds. The Booster Club stepped up and asked the community to help with donations to fund activities so that our youth could partake and enjoy what is rightfully theirs.
So with those donations and other adjustments such as “pay to play,” adjusted gate fees etc., our youngsters will be able to be youngsters for now. This is not a permanent fix. It’s only for the present. We still have a shortfall that only a levy or a change in state funding for education can fix. The handwriting is on the wall, you better read it and pay attention to what it says.
The mentioned donations are an act of LOVE for our children and COMMUNITY. So I ask all parents and guardians to point this out to our youngsters. It was done for them. They can repay everyone by putting out the effort to PARTAKE.
Talk your classmates into joining you and going out for sports and enjoy the activities that are available. Priest River kids are just as good as any of our opponents. But to prove that we must join together and get after it.
You will be working the rest of your lives. Take the time now and make it happen. Enjoy school now and take advantage of what it offers you.

Don’t vote your freedom away
To the editor, Voting is our voice in our body politic. We vote in private and don’t have to explain or justify our choices. The political chaos of Trumpism and MAGA has inverted our civic sense of duty to our communities. We now see the government as our enemy and our political opponents as vermin to be exterminated.
That’s what Trump and Project 2025 have laid out for us if Trump wins in November.
Imagine the police and military showing up at your home to implement the policies outlined in Project 2025. Nothing good is going to happen if you or your family are taken into custody. Mistakes will be made in the deportation of millions of immigrants. Citizens will be killed and injured.
Childbearing age women will be a target of a new intrusive imperial presidency enforcing abortion and contraception laws passed to control women and force them into second class citizenship. Wife beating will no longer be a legal reason for divorce.
Our privacy will become a thing of the past.
Uncontrolled citizens will be viewed as a threat to security. Your comments on social media will be used against you.
Your communications, mail, purchases, and travel will be monitored to enforce new intrusive executive orders.
Lincoln warned us about this when he said, “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.
As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
When you vote, think of the ballot as a gun that can be used for self or family destruction.
Another thought is that you are voting for your own servitude. You could be voting your freedom away. Poor rural communities often vote against their own interests to eliminate the government assistance funds that keep them in existence.
