The Kalispel Tribe held a summer camp at Bear Paw Camp south of Cusick Monday and Tuesday, July 29-30. Here Rory Axel instructs a youngster in archery. The daylong camp had about 30-40 attendees each of the two days. The Kalispel Tribe is trying to focus on prevention activities and helping our kids and adults be aware about substance use in all forms. The day camp’s focus was on having fun and promoting teamwork, learning to work together no matter what age you are and showing that you can have fun without drugs and alcohol. In addition to archery, there were team building activities, games, relays, arts and crafts, low and high challenge courses, boating, swimming and paddleboarding.
