Kooter was a cat No, he was much more than that God knew it was him we needed So, with loving care he was treated A 10-ounce ball of fur he came in need With a baby cat bottle formula, we did feed Everywhere we went we took him in his crate Never once he minded because he trusted us his fate Aunt Janet was the only one he was trusted to Cause when we returned, he’d be there that we knew Beautiful black and shiny as can be A white tuxedo and 4 white feet dressed him to a “T” As he grew, he learned to jump high Hummingbirds weren’t safe not even on the fly Tree climbing was his specialty Underground gophers he killed plenty He loved to hug you with arms around your neck He stole your heart; remember he’s a cat, so what the heck Where ever he was at, whatever he was doin He’d come running when you cluck a bowel with a spoon Don’t ever leave your door or window open on your car or truck Cause he’d be there soon and track your seats and dash with muck Mother Margaret once said what’s the fuss he’s just a cat Her friend Patty said no you don’t understand Jim thinks he’s more than that He gave us another look at God’s creation From him we learned appreciation Now he’s gone why we’ll never know I wish the pain and hurt would soon go Somehow, I think with us he’ll always be He blessed our hearts Patty and Me What a beautiful little black man he was We loved him so just Because!
