Bonner County Fair opens Wednesday

SANDPOINT – The Bonner County Fair gets underway Wednesday, Aug. 14, running through Saturday, Aug. 17, with all the popular livestock and other exhibits that fairs are known for along with a threeman team extreme broncs competition, a concert, a demolition derby and a dirt bike show.

The fair opens to the public at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Extreme Bronc Riding and Bull Poker event will take place, Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the rodeo arena. The Sandpoint Smash Demolition Derby will be held Saturday, Aug. 19. Tickets are available on the website at www.bonnercountyfair. com. Only online event tickets will be offered this year, there will be no tickets sold at the gate or other pre-sale locations, according to the Bonner County Fair website. The website warns to not buy any third party websites; only purchase them from www.bonnercountyfair. com.

The extreme broncs competition will take place Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. along with the Bull Poker, barrel racing and mutton busting. There’s an added $10,000 purse. Visit XtremeBroncRiding.com.

A 4-H dance in the indoor arena is Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 8-10 p.m.

Octane Addictions perform Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.

The World’s “Funnest” Photo Booth is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Photos are free. A Hay Bale Maze is also free and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pony rides and a petting zoo will be on the lawn west of the indoor arena each day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. An antique tractor display is each day and an inflatable play zone is open on the southeast lawn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The Fair Market Animal Sale is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Indoor Arena.

A Fair King and Queen crowning ceremony is Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 2:30-3 p.m.

A number of contests will also be held throughout the week. A pie eating contest is Thursday, Aug. 15 from 4-5 p.m. The best beard contest is Friday, Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. and the best mullet contest is Saturday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m.

The parade of champions is at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

The demolition derby is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Bonner County Fairgrounds are located at 4203 N. Boyer Avenue in Sandpoint.
