Betty Ann (Watson) Barley went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024. On Nov. 27, 1934, she was the second child born to John A.H.
Watson Sr. and Hazel Clara (Ringenbach) Watson in Seattle, Washington.
She came to live in Blanchard, Idaho, when she was a young girl but returned to Seattle with her family when she was in high school. She attended grade school at Blanchard and high school at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.
After school she worked at Providence Hospital in Seattle, then Sears Roebuck in Seattle and she babysat infants and children off and on, after she was married. She loved holding babies.
In 1954 she married Harvey Bosch and had three children, Raydene Hay of Blanchard, Rozanne Little of Cheney, Washington, and Randy Lee Bosch of Blanchard.
In 1964 she moved back to Blanchard with her husband and children. In 1969 with Ray Barley Sr., she had two more children, Ray Barley Jr (Deceased) and Ronita DeHaven of Spokane, Washington. She had eight granddaughters, four grandsons, three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, one great-grandchild on the way and many nephews and nieces.
After her children moved from home, she gave 24-hour care to her son Ray Barley Jr who never walked or talked, until he died, in March 1997.
After Ray Jr. died, she helped her Watson siblings, by singing at church services on Sundays at the Newport Health Center, River Mt. Assisted Living in Newport, Washington, Valley Vista and Vista View in Sandpoint, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. H. Watson Sr. and Hazel Clara Watson; along with brother John A. H. Watson Jr. (Deidra); sister JoAnne Miehm (John); son Ray Barley Jr.; grandsons Thomas Butterfield III and Alexander Sherry; granddaughters Sylvia Butterfield, Jennifer Bosch and Andrea Krauss. Her remaining family, and/ or spouse: siblings Elizabeth Watson, Auggie Watson (Janice), Susan Persyn (Wayne), Timothy Watson, Darlene Watson, Grace Ellen Dolly (George); children Raydene Hay, Rozanne Little (Duff), Randy Lee Bosch (Becky), Ronita DeHaven (Andrew); grandchildren Jason Krauss, Jesse Pratt, C.G. Thorsheim (Amber), Robert Thorsheim (Kristine), Gwendolyn Bosch (James), Tina Bosch (Brian), Ashley Boyle (Jake), Isabelle DeHaven (Cody); great-grandchildren Semira Krauss, Chloe Thorsheim, Chase Thorsheim, Gabrielle Bosch, Isaiah Bosch; great-grandchild on the way and many nephews and nieces. An anecdote from Betty Ann: “When called to the principal’s office, I thought, ‘I don’t know what I did wrong!’ Then the principal said, “You speak this week.” I said, “NO! I’d rather get detention than speak in the chapel.”
Viewing will be held at Sherman-Campbell, 423 W. 2nd St., Newport, Washington, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from noon to 5 p.m. Graveside Service is Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard. Following the service a potluck will be held at the Blanchard Grange.
