Don George Winterfield
Don George Winterfield
Don George Winterfield was born at home on May 14, 1937 to William and Emma Winterfield in North Ridgeville, Ohio where Don grew up and met the love of his life, Nancy “Jane” Cool. They married and had five children before moving out west. Their children are Clint (& Janna) Winterfield, Dona (& Dale) Storro, Sandra (& David Bussler), Bill Winterfield and Dana (& Shane) Douglas. Grandchildren are Bryce, Kristy, Allysha, Kyle, Aaron, Shandell, Tyler, Andrew, Karly, Anthony and Donny; plus 13 great-grandchildren.
Don was an Iron Worker by trade, and just last year received his 70-year pin. He worked iron in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Ohio. He was highly respected and sought in his field. He may have been an Iron Worker by day, but he was a jack of all trades.
Don was community minded and belonged to several service organizations; Newport Eagles, Pend Oreille Valley Softball Association, Newport Rodeo Association to name a few. He spent years coaching youth athletics in Newport and Priest River, receiving a Washington Lifetime volunteer award. Family was always a priority, but everyone in the community knew they could reach out to him for a helping hand. He was one of the most hard working men left on this earth, always leading by example. His wife of 61+ years was always by his side supporting him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. located at the Priest River Event Center in Priest River, Idaho.
Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport WA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell. com.
