Carol Jean (Proctor) , age 87, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024, in her beautiful river home in Newport, Washington. She was born on March 4, 1937, in Newport, where she married her lifelong friend and high school sweetheart, Frank, August 7, 1955. She is survived by her husband Franklin Jed , their three children, Brian (Theresa) , Barry (Lynnel) , Christy (Troy) Johnson, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Carol was deeply devoted to her faith and cherished her family above all else. Her love for God and her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Carol was known for her unwavering kindness and compassion towards others.

She was a loving stayat- home mother, volunteer librarian at Sadie Halstead Elementary, chairwoman of Christian Women’s Club International and Bible study leader her entire adult life. Carol attended Dalkena Community Church for over 80 years where she served faithfully in many capacities but enjoyed her time teaching Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls, and Awana the most.

Carol had an unwavering love for others evidenced by so many who called her “mom” and friend beyond the confines of her family and church. She shared her gifts of encouragement, hospitality and laughter, and unparalleled love for conversation, tea, coffee and dessert with everyone she encountered.

Carol Jean leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, faith, and kindness.

She will be dearly missed by her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

John 16:22 (KJV) “And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

Her Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m., at Dalkena Community Church, 425961 SR 20, Newport, WA. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family encourages donations in Carol’s name to Dalkena Community Church, Youth Camp Scholarships.
