Rachel V. passed away May 19, 2024, at the age of 98. Rachel was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Delores, Colorado, to Marcilous and Ella May Baysinger. She had four brothers and four sisters and was the second youngest of the family.

She married Walter Lee on June 7, 1941, in Rico, Colorado, who predeceased her on April 9, 1994. They were married for nearly 53 years. She later married James Van Curler on Aug. 16, 2007, who predeceased her on Oct. 29, 2008, when he lost his battle with cancer.

The family moved from Colorado to live in Idaho and Washington and a brief stay in California. Rachel worked as a private caregiver for several years while living in Spokane. Rachel and Lee enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Colorado to visit relatives. They also traveled to Arizona and California. Camping, fishing and almost anything outdoors was also a favorite.

Rachel loved the Lord and often taught Sunday school classes for the younger children. Rachel and Lee were often asked to sing at the church services, which they thoroughly enjoyed. She will truly be missed but the Lord has called her home which she has been looking forward to.

Rachel is survived by daughters Lenora Castle, Hazel Johnston and a son Jerald (Marlene); grandchildren Michele, Timothy, Sherri, Jeffry, Douglas, Gregory, Kathleen, Shannon & Justyn; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Rachel Cooper and an infant son Francis William.

A service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Newport Cemetery, Newport, Washington.
