Newport

Darla Joy Mason (Brock) was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on April 10, 1954, to Don and Joy Brock. She passed away on September 4, 2024, at age 70, at Kootenai Health in Coeur dā€™ Alene, Idaho.

Darla graduated from Priest River High School in 1971 and attended the University of Idaho and Whitworth College. She worked at the Soviet Restaurant at Expo ā€˜74, the B.O.F. Club, and the Flamingo Restaurant in Spokane; the Golden Spur in Newport; and the American Legion in Cusick.

She married Larry Mason on August 25, 1983; they enjoyed playing music together. She had a beautiful voice and was a talented saxophonist. A big Denver Broncos fan, she and Larry attended games in Denver when they could.

Darla was charming, mischievous, witty, stubborn, loyal, compassionate, quick-tempered at times, and always full of love for her family; she was also saved by the grace of Jesus. She had a colorful, vibrant personality that is already greatly missed.

Darla is survived by her husband, Larry; sons Kenny (Rhonda), Jeffrey, Jeremy, Joshua (Samantha), and Jonathan (Sonja) Mason; daughters Christiana (Joe) Giampietri and Harmony (Brian) Baer; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson on the way; brother Don (Cindy) Brock; sister Melody (Rick) Podlas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport, Washington, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell.com.
