Tony Mark Almond

Tony Mark Almond

Tony Mark Almond

BORN 3/23/1959 WENT TO JESUS 12/10/2024

Son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, partner, stepdad, friend, Santa...these titles matter because they symbolize what was the most important thing in Tony’s life- his family.

Tony Mark was born in Long Beach, California to Jack Almond & Nancy Hawley, the youngest brother and middle child, joining big brothers Raymond & Jack, followed by sisters, Nancy & Charlie (Cheryl); later when Nancy married Don Hawley, sister Julia joined the brood; on the Almond side Rodney and Krissi grew up a lifetime away, but that made no difference to Tony, they were all siblings just the same.

Tony spent his childhood and adulthood in Tehachapi, California following in the footsteps of his dad and big brother learning to lay flooring. Tony followed in his big brother Raymond’s footsteps often, laying the foundation for a deep bond and connection that would lead Tony to follow Raymond and his family to Newport, Washington. Newport is where he’d meet his greatest love & spend the rest of his days making friends with and feeding the deer who frequented the back lawn on Ash Street, until a relocation took him just up the highway near Deer Park.

Tony did not have children of his own but spent most of his life as a loving and adoring uncle to his nieces & nephews, later his great nephews & nieces.

When he met his love, Terrie on May 10,1991, he quickly became a loving and adoring stepdad to Bradford and Tyler. Tony had a special bond with all of the kids, loving them as if they were his very own. He was there for birthdays, graduations, weddings, births, sporting events, & holidays. One of the most special roles he played for his great nephews and nieces was years and years as Christmas Eve Santa, creating memories the kids will never forget and cherish for a lifetime. Uncle Tony’s glasses may have fogged up every time he entered the packed house, and as the kids got older, he worried he would be recognized, but it did not stop him from showing up Christmas after Christmas, dancing with them, putting them on his lap, and bringing them that joy on Christmas that we all know would make his mom, Nancy, gleam with pride. Christmas was special to Nancy, and she made it special for her entire family year after year, no doubt that is where Tony found his inspiration to be Santa.

Tony spent 33 years loving Terrie Stratton, helping raise her boys, going on adventures, watching Bloomsday, and raising their loved and cherished pups, Frankie and Angel. Tony loved his social media, it was a great way to stay connected with family, comment on posts using mostly emojis, and share his daily videos of bulldogs who reminded him of the love and joy he got from his time with Frankie.

Tony was a believer & a family man to his core. There’s no doubt he was smiling, and that signature single syllable laugh and “gosh” was heard when he was reunited with his grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, stepfather, &

Uncles & was greeted by his best friend Frankie. Those left missing him, Terrie &

boys, Bradford (Katy) and Tyler (Kyle); brother Raymond and sister Patti, brother Jack, sister Nancy and brother Ron, sister Charly and brother Tony, sister Krissi, brother Rodney, sister juju, sister in laws Diana (Ken) and Christina, his bonus brother, Harry (Kathy), who called him every other day, many aunts &

uncles, many cousins, his nieces & nephews & great nieces & nephews.

For years Tony shared his gift of being Santa with the families of friends who had little ones, they each cherished these memories of him and his kind smile.

He had many, many good friends he kept throughout his lifetime and who he loved like family. He was kind and caring and will be loved and missed by all those he made a part of his life.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks those who wish to consider a donation to SCRAPS Spokane or Angel Paws of Pend Oreille County. Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport WA. is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell.com.
